Choose to succeed
"Waterloo has a special atmosphere"

Visitors to our school often comment on its friendly ethos, that it has a "warm feel".  We attempt to create a calm, organised and orderly atmosphere in which children behave well, and where all individuals, both staff and children alike, share a common respect for one another.alt

We positively promote self-discipline and teach our children to have a sense of responsibility not only for themselves, but also others around them.

Every child at Waterloo is an individual and the creation of positive relationships with parents and carers is fundamental to our success.  Meetings on a range of issues, from pre-Nursery to the end of Key Stage 2 are held on a regular basis to keep you informed of everything to do with your child's education.

altThe children's own views and opinions are sought and valued.  We have a flourishing School Council, where ideas are shared and decisions made that have led to real developments in school.  This sense of ownership and belonging means that the children are extremely proud of their school.

We recently received the "Healthy Schools" award and we do take every opportunity to promote healthy lifestyles' healthy minds as well as healthy bodies.

"Opportunity for all"

A main strength of Waterloo School is our commitment to provide a wide range of opportunities to inspire children, whatever their interests, talents or learning style.alt
We offer a wide range of additional curricular activities and clubs.  As a Sport England Active Mark School we offer a comprehensive range of sports, football, netball athletics and gymnastics to name just a few.  We have a thriving dance group who produce performances of the highest calibre.  Our commitment to sport and activity is enhanced by our lunchtime sports programme and playground equipment.  Our "fitness week" is a real highlight at the end of the year.  There are also the arts, musical activities, drama, art, gardening and many others.  We aim to provide a lifetime of interest for the child.

altWe offer a rich and varied curriculum that lets our children wonder, explore and develop their creativity.
This is achieved through a variety of ways, visits to places of educational and cultural interest, interesting visitors to school, and residential visits to outdoor centres, special curriculum days or themes or the use of a specialist teacher for sport or modern languages.

Teachers spend a great deal of time together planning our teaching programme.  It is essential we inspire our children.
