Year 2 classes practised their Maths skills outside through a variety of fun group activites. These activities help to develop the children's problem solving skills, mathematical vocabulary, listening skills and also Personal and Social skills such as cooperation within a team.
These pupils were given a 10 minute timed challenge to sort 2D and 3D shapes according to their properties in as many ways as they could think of.
Pupils predicted how many times they could bounce a ball and how many skips they could do in one minute. They then compared their prediction to the actual number achieved in one minute. Mrs Alderson stood by with a minute timer.

We had to answer problem solving questions in order to get a goal try. The team with the most goals won. Pupils kept their own tally chart of scores. |
